'Dancing Man' is a permanent painted installation in the Alfred Arms on Old Northam Road. The painting was made to 'dance' on the evening of the exhibition by an overlaid projection of an animated sequence of drawings of a man dancing. Every 10 frames the projection and painted frame matched up, uniting the digital and physical dancing man and creating the illusion of a pause in the animation.
'Dystopia Holdings' was ZEST Collective's first exhibition, showcasing member's new work. The name of the exhibition comes form the intriguing former trading name of 'Grey's Development' a local business along Old Northam Road. The exhibition decor and music was to the theme of 'Dystopia' and the exhibiting artists wore life jackets to hint at Southampton's pending underwater dystopian future due to Sea Level rise.
